Street Photography: Heat on the Street

The oppressiveness of the heat wave and high humidity in New York City last week was evident in many of the faces I encountered along Eighth Avenue.

I could see it in the eyes. They were looking off into space focused on nothing in particular. And the eyes tended to look downward as if in mourning. Zoom into this lady’s eyes and you will see what I mean – even behind her sunglasses.

I loved her style and commitment to what is apparently her favorite color. Despite the punishing heat, she did not succumb to wearing a reflective white or a psychologically-cooling blue. Instead she chose to wear the hottest hue in the color spectrum to go with her hair.
